What were people interested in, during 1997. 1. Heaven's Gate 2. Diana's Death 3. Mars Voyager I have an advantage over most writers of Top 97 lists, I have access to our page hits numbers. The most hits in ONE DAY was about equal between the three events named above. All three reached a height of about 50,000 page requests in ONE DAY. However, Diana's Death accumulated the largest amount of traffic over the longer period. After a few weeks Heaven's Gate drifted off into oblivion. After a couple of weeks the Mars Voyager became non news. However, Diana is still a page that gets hundreds of hits if not thousands every week, even months after her death! There were other Top Stories. Versaces murder was a very HOT story in 1997! In all we got over 50,000 page requests while that story was HOT! So, was Mike Tyson biting the Ear of Holyfield. That page got over 10,000 requests in around one week. Mother Teresa's death was quite popular. The missing A-10 peaked many people's interest. The Jon Benet Ramsey case won't go away. Many have visited that page. The deaths of Inxs singer Michael and fat comic Chris Farley were visited by around 3,000 people. About twice that amount came to see information about Big Blue beating Kasparov. However, in total volume of page requests on our site over the past year, the absolute winner was our pages about the mystic Sollog. In all, he generated more traffice than all the other stories combined! So at What's HOT! Sollog is the Top story of 1997. After all, most of the top news events he predicted....
